PAT Testing
As a business you have a duty to prevent any harm coming to your employees and customers. Portable Appliance Testing (or PAT for short) is one of the ways that you can comply with this obligation.
There is an obligation to carry out a programme of testing, maintenance and inspection:
Where ANY appliances are used by employees
Where the public may use appliances in places such as hospitals, schools, hotels, shops etc
Where appliances are supplied or hired
Where appliances are serviced or repaired
Landlords also have a duty to take precautions against injury or death to tenants
The following items (whilst not an exhaustive list) will give you an idea of the types of appliances that require regular testing:

PC's including printers, faxes, scanners, copiers, modems plus all leads
Power Tools (240v & 110v) including drills, grinders, sanders electrical saws etc (NB Most construction site tools will require testing every 3 months to comply with health & safety regulations)
Rental properties Landlords may wish to test items such as vacuum cleaners, fridges, kettles etc
These regulations may also be imposed by hotels or local authorities when businesses are using their facilities such as function rooms, halls & community centres. This can affect DJ's, party planners, training companies, seminar organisers etc
All testing is carried out in accordance with The Institute of Electrical Engineers (IEE) code of practice.
Prices are dependant on quantity of items tested with a minimum charge of £45.00 per site (applies to 18 items or less)
